No knitting today, sorry!
Just a little story on keys and why you should be sure of which keys you have at all time.
I found myself, at 7:00AM in front of my locked apartment door and without a key to open it. I'd just brought my husband to the train station and he was already on his way to Boston. I had in my pockets, my keys, my cell phone and my driver's license. No knitting, no book. Now, the question is, why do I have keys, but not the right key to my apartment?
Yesterday an agent came over to our house to look at one of our apartments that he will be in charge of renting out. I gave him keys. What I thought was the front door key (my own key) and said apartment key. Later that evening my husband gave me a new front door key so I wouldn't get locked out of the house.
So this morning after getting out of the car I notice that the two keys I have are very similar but figure that I'll see which is which when I get to the door. I get upstairs to our apartment and try key number 1, doesn't work, try key number 2, doesn't work. Start panicking, try again each key quite a few times without success. I figure the lock is jammed and call my husband. He's on the train so can't really help me. So I call 411 so I can get a hold of a locksmith. After getting their emergency number I talk to locksmith, and he tells me that he will call me back later. He calls me back and by then it is 7:30. Says a guy will come "shortly" after 8am. Finally at 8:30, the guy shows up and opens my door... I'm glad I didn't have a baby in the house, or something on the stove (not that I'd leave the house with those 2 things inside, but you never know!)
Kind of a sucky way to start the morning!

On a happy note, I will be going to Montreal tomorrow to celebrate a belated Christmas with my family. And I found out that the biggest knitting store of Montreal is 2 streets down from my brother's house where we will be celebrating! I guess I will have to go take a look! : )

Oh I have done that a couple of times. Put an extra key in a hide-a-key rock in your yard.
Have fun on your trip. And enjoy checking out the new yarn store!

Have fun in Montreal!!
I got locked out a few months ago when I was locking my condo and the lock jammed. Couldn't get the key out and had to leave to go to work - at least the door was locked and there's not much traffic in our hallway...

Hi Val...once, many years ago, living in one of our first apartments, I went out to the car in my pajamas for something, and was locked out of my apartment! I had to go to the neighbors house across the street, ask for a ladder, and climb over the balcony so I could go through that door! Good thing it was only the second floor apartment, because I was also pregnant!

I've done that too! But luckily I had given a key to my neighbor and was able to walk down to get it! Ive locked myself out of so many vehicles I'm deathly afraid of locking the kids in the van, so I always leave a door ajar!! Hope you have fun in Montreal, can not wait to hear about your travels : )

What a tough way to start the day!!! I'm glad things worked out OK, and as you say, you didn't have the stove on, etc. I'm always worried I'll do that!
Your belt in the previous post looks like a fun project. I hope the socks are coming along too for you, and that you enjoy Montreal.
