30's the new 20, right?

Wow, it's been a week since I've last posted! Sorry 'bout that. A lot of things have happened in the last few days, a trip to Cummington for the Mass Sheep and Wool, a wedding and a 30th birthday party. And of course, some knitting and spinning.

I drove up to Cummington on my own with my wheel. I was supposed to meet some friends there and get a part of my wheel replaced. Soon after my arrival there my wheel was fixed and I shopped around. I bought an additional 2 bobbins for my wheel, some pretty spinning batts and some yarn I'd been looking for.

The batts were bought, I believe from Spin-N-Knit Crafts. The first one is a 100% merino for when I dare try spinning merino. The colors are totally off in the picture. The red as shown is actually a deep dark fuschia.

I also bought a 2 oz batt of a merino, silk and camel blend. I thought it be fun to try different things when I get more confident.

I also found something I'd been looking for for a while. Something to knit Gothic Leaf Stole with. I found this huge hank of 1120 yds in these beautiful shades of pink at the Silver Moon Fiber Arts booth.

Memorial Day was a beautiful day. I had the chance to spend my 30th birthday with friends and family. We went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3, had some great food and dessert and had a great time. I received a couple knitting related gifts.

I received the 365 Knitting Stitches a Year perpetual calendar I'd been wanting for the longest time and a gift certificate to Barnes and Nobles that allowed me to go and buy myself the book Lace Style. My husband got me a beautiful bag that I'll use as my knitting bag from now on. I'll have to take pictures so I can show you!

This afternoon I'm going to see the Yarn Harlot in Northampton. I'm really thrilled to get to hear her again. Hopefully I'll remember to bring her latest book and I'll get to have it signed! If you're going to be there and you recognize me, please come visit! I'm planning to get a lot of knitting done while waiting and hopefully I'll be able to finish my second 80's Punk sock.

Pictures of that and my latest new project tomorrow!

Lots of packages!

2 days ago I went to the post office. In the mail box were 3 little cards promising 3 packages. Much to my surprise there actually were 5 packages!

First I got my first package from my Secret Pal:

Secret Pal package

Look at it all! Isn't it awesome? In the middle is some sock yarn that she dyed herself with kool aid and 2 balls of Rowan Tweed 4 ply. In the beautiful hand knit red bag were the buttons, the beads and the lip balm. She also got me some candles, soap, little notebook, chocolate bars, sticky notepad and a little kit with tape measure, safety pins, mini emery boards and some salve. I wish you could have seen the box when I opened it, everything was wrapped in pink tissue paper with pink ribbons. I am a really lucky girl to have such a great Secret Pal. I do hope that she has one too! Thank you!

The second package was my special order from Vespers' Julia:

Vespers Sock yarn

AquaMelon, Strange Little Mama and Astro
Now I don't have to be worried at missing her next update! I got the 3 colors I wanted!

The third package was my order from Piddleloop. Go and give them some business, they are really awesome! They make these really pretty small project pouches perfect for a sock or 2. I also ordered a matching zippered pouch for my knitting accessories. My order came with some extra goodies; 2 stitch markers, some cute little sheepy tags and some matching note cards.

I also received a package from Amazon with some books on spinning and a package from someone that I traded with from Knitty with some Patagonia Nature Cotton.

The next day, I went back to the Post Office to mail something and I had 2 more packages waiting for me! 3 balls of Cascade 220 in a beautiful reddish pink color and some more Mission Falls for my Ripple Afghan!

I haven't been to the post office today... But I am expecting at least one more package! Lol! What a week! I love receiving packages!

Random Friday

First:

I have to thank my Secret Pal for this lovely and delicious package received last weekend.

I haven't had a chance to try the hot chocolate yet, but it sure looks yummy. I did try out the marshmallows though, and they are really good!

Thank you Secret Pal!

Second:

I finished chart 1 of my Fake Isle hat.

It's a really fast knit. I think I need to sit down and work on it twice more and I'll be done.

Thirdly:

I got something in the mail today...

Row markers by Beadmarkers

These are row markers made specially for me by Beadmarkers. I've bought stitch markers from her before and I saw that she made row markers too. I conveniently found that out after seeing that the stole I want to make (Gothic Leaf Stole by Sivia Harding) has a 20 row repeat. I am really pleased with my purchase, go and check her stuff out!
