Lots of updating to do

I have been a bad blogger lately. I've had things to post but I have been to lazy to do it. So now I have to update you on the older stuff and on the new stuff too! Beware, lots of pictures ahead!

About two weeks ago, I ordered my very own drop spindle. I had been eyeing one on an ebay store that was both cheap and pretty and I finally caved in and ordered a kit with drop spindle and 4oz of merino roving.

I havent been working on it too much yet, been too busy knitting, but as soon as there is some progress made I'll make sure to share it with all of you!

That was the old stuff, now for the new...

This weekend, my husband and I went up to New Hampshire for a little weekend to celebrate our first year anniversary. We were staying in Bradford and I had spotted one yarn store in the area, The elegant ewe in Concord. At the inn, I found this pamphlet for an additional store, The Fiber Studio, just a few miles away from the inn.

We started our day by going to the Fiber Studio, there I bought some more roving for my spindle, some cute little buttons and some reinforcement thread. The store had a stash of Froeliche wool reinforcement threads in the coolest colors. Froeliche doesnt exist anymore so it was now or never! I bought 6 little packs in all sorts of pinks and purples. I was really pleased with that purchase as you cant really find reinforcement thread in those cool colors.

Then we went to the Elegant Ewe. I knew that they carried Koigu and I wanted to get myself some. Luckily they had some, and in some very nice colors too! I had a hard time choosing between two of them, a variegated and a solid. Finally the solid won,

On the picture it looks mostly red, but in real life it is more of a raspberry. I have plans to knit Hedera with it.

Later that day we drove through New London and as we were driving, I notice a sign above a shop. The sign clearly said "Knit". I made my husband turn around so I could investigate further. I went up to the front door, it was sadly closed. As I go back to the front, I notice the biggest ball of yarn with needles that I've ever seen.

If I am back in these parts of New Hampshire again, I will definitely go check it out!

Last but not least, last night, after coming back from our trip, I was able to finish my second Fixation sock.

Notice how the one on the right pooled? And the one on the left didnt at all? Isn't that funny!

Welcome August, welcome neutrals

I had fun making a mosaic of all the neutrals that I have in my stash. As you can see some of the neutrals have some other colors with them, some pinks, some greens, some blues but definitely mostly brown. Some of these projects will be done this month, but some others will have to wait for me to get to them. Most of them are Christmas gift so I have time before they are needed.

From top left, clockwise:
Mate for my first Jaywalker, black and brown Zitron to make a hat, 2 pairs of socks, basketweave scarf, brown and pink yarn for a woven knit scarf and finally black and grey Zitron for matching hat and scarf for DH.

I am hoping to make the second Jaywalker and finish the basketweave scarf as my two Project Spectrum projects.

I am also working on my first Magic Loop socks, so far so good, I really enjoy it and do not want to go back to dpns. The porcupine look while trying the sock on is over, from now on only a convenient cable will circle my ankle/foot.

Fixation

For these socks I am using Cascade Fixation on a size 6 40" circular and I am loving it. I dont think I've ever knit a sock this fast. I still have to learn how to arrange my stitches for the picking up of the stitches but after that I will be good to make all my socks that way! Yay!

Wish list

I created a mosaic of patterns that I would like to make in the future. Most of them are summer tops and the fact that winter is coming up wont stop me!

I think I have the yarn for Ms. marigold, but that's about it. I guess I should probably write down the yarns required and put them on my to buy list in case I find them somewhere! And I should probably buy the patterns first...
